EQUALS is pleased to offer a tailored course designed specifically for currently registered Enrolled Nurses who completed their Course of Study prior to 2008 and/or have the notation ‘Does not hold Board-approved qualification in administration of medicines’ placed on their registration with AHPRA.
AHPRA issued a fact sheet in March 2015 for Enrolled Nurses & Medicine Administration which can be accessed here.
As per AHPRA’s fact sheet, the notation on your registration can be removed with evidence of successful completion of the unit HLTENN007: Administer and monitor medicines and intravenous therapy.
This course may be completed through a Recognition of Prior Learning pathway, or through training in the entire unit.
On Campus Intensive
Students enrolled in this course will be required to attend 5 consecutive days of on campus practical and simulation training at the Adelaide campus. This compulsory component of the course is scheduled to run in the first week of South Australian state school holidays. It is important that students do not enrol unless they are able to meet this requirement. Please check with the Admissions team regarding the next oncampus training dates.

RPL
EQUALS can offer an assessment pathway that includes an assessment of Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) plus relevant gap training where applicable. RPL will only be awarded where a comprehensive RPL portfolio and significant supporting evidence is provided. This may include, but not be limited to position descriptions where IV Medication Administration is detailed as part of the position responsibilitity, employer statements and other professional development and work experience evidence in support of the competencies. RPL students will be required to participate in practical assessment of competencies on campus.
Where assessment of prior learning results in the offer of formal RPL for the full unit, the relevant unit fee will be reduced by 30%.
We invite you to make contact with us to discuss your pathway. Nurses who are currently working as Enrolled Nurses are encouraged to seek RPL in consultation with the Course Manager.
For other important information, please read our Student Handbook. You can access it here.
