Traineeships at EQUALS

EQUALS International offers traineeship programs across a diverse range of study areas. Whether you’re an employer or someone looking to start a traineeship, we provides high-quality, nationally-recognised training tailored to meet your needs.

Who is eligible?

Anyone aged 16-64 can be an Australian Trainee. Australian Traineeships involve working full-time, part-time or school based and receiving training both on and off the job. An Australian Trainee will usually undergo a combination of training and assessment at work and with a registered training organisation (such as EQUALS International), or undertake all their training in the workplace.

Information for Employers

Traineeships are a smart way to recruit and train employees to meet the current and future needs of your business.

With EQUALS’s flexible training options, specialist facilities and industry-experienced teachers, you can be confident that your staff will receive the highest quality trade training available.

Here’s how to register a trainee using EQUALS as your preferred training provider:

  1. Explore the current list of traineeship courses available at EQUALS.
  2. Connect with an Australian Apprenticeship Support Network (AASN) provider (contact details below) to facilitate the traineeship process for your business.
  3. The AASN provider will assist you in identifying and recruiting a trainee, which can be either a new or existing employee.
  4. Discuss with your AASN provider if your business is eligible for government incentives/support.
  5. Inform your AASN provider that EQUALS is your chosen training provider. EQUALS will then complete a training plan with you and your new trainee, tailored to your needs.
  6. The AASN provider will will prepare a training contract for you and your trainee to sign. Following this, EQUALS will contact all parties to finalise a training plan.
  7. EQUALS will provide continuous support throughout the traineeship. Upon completion, your trainee will receive an official certificate for their achievement of a nationally-recognised qualification through EQUALS.

Information for Students

Undertaking traineeship allows you to learn real skills in the workplace, become qualified in a trade or vocation and be paid a wage while you’re learning.

You’ll enter into a training contract with an employer and a training provider that will allow you to combine hands-on training in the workplace with off-job study in a classroom or workshop.

Traineeships can be full-time or part-time and even started while you’re at school.

School-based Traineeships

You can start a school-based apprenticeship or traineeship while you’re still in school. You’ll attend school part of the week, work part-time and study with your training provider as well.

Enrolling in a school-based traineeship has a number of benefits including starting your training while also completing your SACE, earning money while you learn, and gaining experience in the trade or vocation of your choice.
