The health and social care sector is one of Australia’s fastest-growing industries. With an ageing population and growing demand for disability and community care, hundreds of thousands of new jobs are being created. If you’re a senior secondary student considering a career in health, community or social care, this introductory online course is a great first step!
Our Introduction to Working Safely in Health and Community Services is an online, non-accredited course designed especially for secondary students preparing for future training or employment in the sector. Your evidence of completion can be used as supporting evidence for your VETRO (Vocational Education and Training Readiness Orientation) activities.
This course introduces key workplace health and safety concepts used in real-world care environments. You’ll explore how to identify hazards, manage risks, and respond to workplace incidents—all through interactive activities and practical scenarios. Although this is a theory-based course, it reflects current safety practices used across the industry.
Please note this course is only available to senior secondary students enrolled at South Australian schools.
