Overview

This qualification covers competencies for work entry program providing grounding in safety and basic skills and knowledge for work in any electrotechnology discipline.

Electrotechnology is a rapidly growing field, essential for today’s and tomorrow’s energy-dependent lifestyle. This industry includes domestic and commercial electrical installations, electrical power generation and distribution, telecommunications and security systems, air-conditioning and refrigeration, instrumentation and process control, renewable and sustainable energy, as well as electric vehicles and rail transport.

In this course, you will acquire the fundamental electrical skills and knowledge needed to be work-ready, paving the way towards an apprenticeship as an electrician. Many leading South Australian electrical companies view this course as a crucial pre-apprenticeship qualification.

Entry Requirements

There are no formal entry requirements listed in the qualification packaging rules.

All applicants must also demonstrate adequate English language skills and numeracy skills to communicate safely and effectively in industry.

Domestic applicants will be required to demonstrate adequate literacy and numeracy skills at pre-admission interview through formal assessment.

VET in School Students – (ViS)
The UEE22020 Certificate II in Electrotechnology (Career Start) is supported by the Government of South Australia and is available for eligible ViS Students.

To be eligible for access to a subsidised training place, a school student must meet the following criteria.
They must be:
• An Australian or New Zealand citizen or,
• A permanent Australian resident or,
• An eligible visa holder
• Reside in South Australia

They must also be:
• enrolled in Year 11, 12 or 13 and be 16 years of age or turning 16 years of age in the current year of that enrolment, and
• undertaking SACE or equivalent and,
• have completed a preparatory VET pathway – please refer, VET for School Students Approved Evidence for Completion of a Relevant VET Pathway Guide, (available from your VET Coordinator)
