VET for School Students

EQUALS offers a pathway for school students to enrol in Vocational Education and Training (VET) courses that can help them achieve their South Australian Certificate of Education (SACE) by earning credit points.

Overview

Vocational Education and Training (VET) in school is a valuable opportunity for students to acquire vital credits contributing to their South Australian Certificate of Education (SACE).

Nationally recognised qualifications are developed by industry to give people the knowledge and skills they need to work in a particular job.

If you are an eligible South Australian secondary student, you can gain additional SACE points and improve your ATAR score on successful completion of a Certificate III qualification.

Flexible Industry Pathways

Flexible Industry Pathways (FIPS) have been designed in partnership with industry to identify qualifications appropriate for school students and that contain the skills, knowledge and experience valued by employers. They provide an industry-endorsed pathway to employment, better preparing young people for real-world jobs, and providing a pipeline of young skilled workers for South Australia’s workforce.

VET In School Short Course

The health and social care sector is one of Australia’s fastest-growing industries. With an ageing population and growing demand for disability and community care, hundreds of thousands of new jobs are being created. If you’re a senior secondary student considering a career in health, community or social care, this introductory online course is a great first step!

Our Introduction to Working Safely in Health and Community Services is an online, non-accredited course designed especially for secondary students preparing for future training or employment in the sector. Your evidence of completion can be used as supporting evidence for your VETRO (Vocational Education and Training Readiness Orientation) activities.

This course introduces key workplace health and safety concepts used in real-world care environments. You’ll explore how to identify hazards, manage risks, and respond to workplace incidents—all through interactive activities and practical scenarios. Although this is a theory-based course, it reflects current safety practices used across the industry.

Please note this course is only available to senior secondary students enrolled at South Australian schools.
